Preamp — Privacy Policy

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information we handle when you use preamp.audio (the "Service") and how we handle it. Preamp is an artist-reconnaissance tool, currently in private preview. We have intentionally kept visitor data collection to a minimum.

This policy covers two different things:

Information about you, the visitor/user (Sections 2–8); and
Information about musical artists that the Service organizes as its core function (Section 9).

2. Information you provide to us

Access / preview requests and correspondence. If you request preview access or contact us (e.g., by email), we receive whatever you send us, such as your name, email address, and message.
Account sign-in (email). If you create an account, you give us your email address. Sign-in is passwordless: you enter your email, we send you a one-time sign-in link, and clicking it signs you in. We do not use passwords, and we never ask you to connect a wallet or a bank. Your email address, the date your account was created, and your membership level are stored in our database (see Service providers in Section 7).
Membership and payment. If you purchase a paid membership, payment is processed by Stripe — your card details go directly to Stripe and we never see or store your card number. We store a Stripe customer reference so we can link your account to your membership status. Billing history, invoices, and cancellation are handled in Stripe's customer portal under Stripe's own privacy policy.

3. Information collected automatically

Access cookie. When you enter the preview access code, we store a single functional cookie (radar_gate) in your browser so you don't have to re-enter it on each page. It is strictly necessary to provide gated access. It contains the access value only; it is not used for analytics or advertising.
Sign-in session. If you sign in, your browser stores a session token so you stay signed in between pages. It is kept in your browser's local storage (not a cookie), it is strictly necessary to provide the account, and it is not used for analytics or advertising. Signing out removes it.
Server logs. Our site is served through a content-delivery network (Bunny.net). Like virtually all web infrastructure, it processes standard request metadata such as IP address, browser/user-agent, and timestamps to deliver and secure the site.
No analytics or tracking. We do not currently run analytics, advertising, pixels, session recording, or third-party trackers on the Service.

4. Your watchlist

Where your watchlist lives depends on whether you are signed in:

Signed out. If you star artists while signed out, that list is stored only in your browser's local storage on your own device. It is not transmitted to or stored by us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Signed in. If you sign in, your watchlist is saved to your account on our servers so it follows you to any device, and a copy stays in your browser for fast loading. The first time you sign in, any list you had built while signed out is merged into your account so you don't lose it. It is stored against your user ID and is visible only to you (and to us as operator). You can remove items or clear the list at any time from the watchlist page, or email privacy@preamp.audio to have your account and its data deleted.

5. Optional third-party connections

Fonts. The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. To serve them, Google may receive your IP address and standard request data, subject to Google's privacy policy.
Spotify. If you choose to connect a Spotify account (for example, to turn a watchlist into a playlist), that connection is governed by Spotify's terms and privacy policy, and we access only what you authorize for that purpose.

6. How we use information

We use the limited information above to: operate, secure, and improve the Service; provide gated preview access; create and maintain your account, sign you in, and save your watchlist; process payments and manage memberships; send you service messages related to your account (such as sign-in links and receipts); respond to your requests and correspondence; and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not send you marketing email you didn't ask for.

7. How information is shared

We share personal information only:

with service providers that help us run the Service, acting on our behalf or under their own terms. Our principal providers are:
Bunny.net — CDN/hosting for the site;
Supabase — hosted authentication and database (stores your email, account record, membership level, and signed-in watchlist);
Stripe — payment processing for paid memberships (card details go directly to Stripe; we never receive them);
Resend — delivery of account emails such as sign-in links;
and, where applicable, Google Fonts and Spotify (see Section 5);
to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect rights, safety, and security; and
in connection with a business transfer (e.g., merger or acquisition), with notice where required.

We do not sell or rent personal information to data brokers or advertisers.

8. Data retention and security

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, then delete or de-identify it. Account information (your email, account record, and saved watchlist) is kept for as long as your account exists; email privacy@preamp.audio to have your account and its data deleted, and we will do so except where we must retain records (for example, transaction records Stripe or tax law requires us to keep). We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

9. Information about artists (our source data)

The core of the Service is organized information about musical artists and their public presence, aggregated from public and third-party music-data sources and publicly visible social-platform metrics (such as follower counts).

We collect this information from publicly available or licensed sources and use it to produce aggregate signals, metrics, and dated observations.
Follower and listener figures are public metrics and estimates, not private personal data, and we present them for music-industry research and discovery.
Removal / correction requests. If you are an artist (or an authorized representative) and want information about you corrected or removed from the Service, email privacy@preamp.audio and we will review the request in good faith.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing.

California (CCPA/CPRA). California residents may request access to or deletion of personal information and may direct us not to sell/share it (note: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined). We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
EEA/UK (GDPR), if applicable. You may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

To exercise any right, email privacy@preamp.audio. We will verify and respond as required by applicable law.

11. Children

Creating an account requires you to be 18 or older, and this website is not directed to children under 18 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. (The iPhone app is a separate case: it has no account and collects nothing — see the App Privacy Policy.)

12. International users

We operate the Service from the United States. If you access it from elsewhere, you understand your information will be processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your jurisdiction.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves — in particular before enabling any new data collection (for example, analytics or per-user Spotify). We will update the "Effective date" and, for material changes, provide notice where practical. This policy was updated on July 15, 2026 to reflect member accounts, server-side watchlists, and payment processing, which were not part of the Service when the previous version was published.
